Series of vintage commercials for a toy that was recalled shortly after it’s release, Klackers.
Clackers (also known as Clankers, Ker-Bangers, and numerous other names) were toys popular in the late 1960s and early 1970s. They consisted of two plastic spheres suspended on a string which, when swung up and down, bang against each other, making a clacking sound.
In the late 1960s people were playing like crazy with two small heavy balls on a string. Clackers, once set in motion made an ear-splitting sound, were super-fun, highly addictive, and sometimes would explode.
By the early 70s, hundreds of toymakers had sold millions of clackers around the world.
Eventually, they were banned due to the fact that while it taught kids hand-eye coordination. The acrylic balls were deemed unsafe as they could shatter and cause eye damage.
